Aim

This blog deals with words and, beyond them, music.

I’ve found over the years that many people I know love classical music but are unsure where to get started listening. Others fall prey to stereotypical misconceptions (i.e. classical music is dead/boring/depressing/slow, new music is all dissonant/atonal).

Accordingly, the primary aim of this blog is to introduce people to a variety of accessible but beautiful music. Absolutely no background is required; I try very hard to make every post appealing to everyone regardless of prior knowledge. As a consequence the pieces I share will generally be short (often under 5 minutes), but occasionally I will post a longer “bonus” piece.

A secondary but equally important aim of this blog is to share some of the most interesting literary snippets I come across in my daily reading, and my thoughts on certain works.

My intended posting schedule is one long post (with several selections) on weekends, and shorter more frequent posts with music or literary snippets.

Recommendations and feedback are very welcome and should be emailed to me at cl100907@gmail.com or left in the comments. I apologize for any copyrighted material posted by accident. Please notify me if you have any objections and I will remove it at once.
